Sapling: “a young tree”. We reinterpreted this as a house for a young family.

This house will be located in a 1970’s era neighborhood of single storey bungalows. Due to limited views, we proposed an “I” shaped plan with full height pocket-door glass panels opening up to the internal courtyards; thus creating what we described as “ in-between space” for the house. This connects all main areas at ground level with seemingly no borders to the courtyard. This expressed “openness” in the design is reflective of the clients’ desire to raise their family in an open transparent way of living.
